Welcome to my homepage!
I have been teaching in the North Canton system for 23 years. This will be my sixth wonderful year at Northwood. Previous to this time, I taught Title I, and first, second and third grades at Clearmount Elementary. Early in my career, I taught Special Education for six years in Cuyahoga Falls.
I have had the honor (I worked very hard for it) to have attained my National Board Certification, which presently is the highest achievement to which a teacher can aspire.
North Canton is a wonderful school system, and I am truly honored to be a part of it. Everyone- principal, teachers, parents, and students- value education and work so well together. We care for each other and want to see happiness and success in our young people.
I have loved teaching so many years in second grade. The growth observed, from September until June, is truly satisfying and fulfilling. At times, it is challenging to a teacher because there is so much for the children to learn at such young ages. But we have all worked together to bring on a rewarding end to the year.
I am looking forward to another wonderful year as I work with such quality educators, eager learners, and caring parents. I continue to hear nothing but praise about Northwood and Mr. Griffiths, our Principal..
Throughout the years I have lived in North Canton, I have been involved in volunteer projects. When my children were younger, I was very active in the Orchard Hill P.T.A. and parent organizations for my childrens' sports activities. Their middle school and high school years provided me opportunities to stay active. I loved those After-Proms
I coordinated the 'Just Say No' organizations in the elementaries. This operated for several years until we got the D.A.R.E. program. I also joined the 'North Canton Community Intervention Board, whose mission was to work with the schools and community to educate and prevent drug and alcohol abuse. Many successful programs and activities have come to fruition since NCCI's inception.
I also volunteer, weekly, at the Stark County Juvenile Attention Center. What a blessing and an enlightenment it is to spend time with these girls.
I have a wonderful family. I think they are the best!!! All three of my children went through the North Canton School system. They are wonderful young adults.
My first grandchild, Mackenzie, will be four years old in October and my second, Sydney, was one in April. I'm excited to have some little ones running around my house again.
My faith is of utmost importance to me. I trust God to guide me through each day and make it count. Hopefully, I am a good role model for my students, and they will take with them, not only academic success, but also strong character traits and values to help them throughout their lives.
So now you know a little about me. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to work with your children here at Northwood.
